It's been three-and-a-half years since Christina Aguilera released Back to Basics, her last full album of new material, but the singer is finally ready to hit the music scene again. Over the past few years, she's remained busy raising her son Max and wrapping up production on her film debut "Burlesque," but on Thursday (March 25) she announced that her fourth studio album, Bionic, will drop on June 8, and its first single, "Not Myself Tonight," will premiere at 6 p.m. ET Tuesday on ChristinaAguilera.com and will be available on iTunes on April 13.

"Working on this album with so many talented artists and producers that I admire was really an amazing experience," she said in a press release.

"The artists I chose to work with added so many unique sonic layers to Bionic. My intention was to step into their world and what they do combined with my own vision and sound. The results were magic," she said of her collaborators, which include Sia, Tricky Stewart, Polow Da Don, Linda Perry, Le Tigre, Hill & Switch and Ladytron, among others.

"Not Myself Tonight" was produced by Polow Da Don and an early preview may be in the works, as an empty media player is on her Web site and asks fans to come back on Friday "for an exclusive preview." Earlier this week, the song's single artwork and lyrics were posted on Aguilera's site; the lyrics suggest a re-emergence of the singer's raunchy side that she flaunted on 2002's Stripped: "The old me's gone I feel brand new/ And if you don't like it, f--- you."

Fans got an early glimpse of the singer's new material when she debuted "Lift Me Up" during the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon in late January. The ballad, which was produced and written by Perry, will also be included on the album.

Aguilera, whose work has spanned pop and throwback R&B in the past, suggested that yet more styles are featured on Bionic. "I was able to explore and create a fresh, sexy feel using both electronic and organic elements with subject matter ranging from playful to introspective. I am so excited for my fans to hear the new sound. It is something I don't think anyone will expect," she said.

In addition to the release, the image of what appears to be the cover of Bionic was posted on her site. With her hair slicked back, a head shot of a robotic Aguilera is shown with the right side of her face revealing the mechanics of several musical instruments leading down to her neck with an opened, silver chokehold.

Back in January, the singer spoke about the "futuristic" LP to Marie Claire, admitting that "maybe I've been afraid in the past to allow myself to go to a place of 'less singing.' " On the new album, "I'm more vulnerable and more strong at the same time."
